Beautyberry shrubs are another autumnal delight.  Look at the gorgeous color on this Japanese Beautyberry (Callicarpa japonica).  We added it last year, and I think it is just great.  Those berries are amazing!  Bright and almost porcelain looking.  Even from a distance it is quite eye-catching.  We’ve also got some native beautyberries (Callicarpa americana) planted nearby.  We’ve had them for several years.  Their berries exhibit a more subtle beauty in comparison to the Japanese variety, but they are still something special.   Isn’t the name “beautyberry” just perfect? 🙂
